”Not like my other MANT-310.” 2009-05-21
By B. Olson
I was quite dissappointed in this antenna. I purchased the same antenna about 1.5 years ago and got this one for my second television because I have a digital television and prefer to not have cable. This antenna was labeled to be the same as my original but it is not. The cables were different and caused it to not work on my television. Overall it was just more cheaply made. I called Phillips directly and they told me to just return it. Amazon was great about accepting the refund. Not so happy with Phillips.

”No good for HD radio” 2009-02-06

Bought this for HD radio. It’s worse than the simple dipole wire antenna that came with the radio. Can’t offer an opinion on it for TV. Seems adeqautely built.

”Works OK but cheaply made” 2008-08-18
By UF Gator grad (Sandy, Ut)
I paid $20 for this antenna, and with it I got 11 channels including all 4 major networks and PBS from my ground floor apartment. Getting the best signal for each chanel requires directional adjustments and even then, all the signals come with varying degrees of fuzz, but for most channels its tolerable. I didn’t notice much difference with the amplifier turned on (it usually just amplified the fuzz) and I almost always used it with the amplifier off. If I were rating just the reception, I’d give it 3-4 stars because it’s reasonably priced but the reception is only OK and the amplifier is a pointless gimmick.

The biggest drawback, and the reason for two stars, is the cheap construction. The coaxial connection broke off after 1 week of normal use. While changing the direction of the antenna, I noticed the coaxial connection was a little loose and wiggly. After one week of use, the connector pulled right out of the base while I was trying to attach a thin more flexible cable to protect it from being bent around by a normal cable every time I changed the antenna direction. After inspecting the back of the coaxial connector (the end that fits inside the antenna housing), the only thing holding it in place was one small solder joint between the wire coming off the back of the connector and the circuitry inside. There was nothing else to stabilize it. After seeing it, frankly, I’m amazed it lasted this long. The only reason it’s not getting 1 star is in case the unit I bought was defective. If they’re all like this, it deserves negative stars.

Needless to say, the next antenna I buy will be from another manufacturer.

 ”Passive antennas do better” 2008-07-23
By J. Johnston
I recently purchased this model in hopes of getting better digital reception than the low-end (but generally solid) RCA ANT111 Basic Indoor Antenna. This amplified antenna is not the answer. The device is pretty poor without power, and even at variable levels of gain the difference between this an a passive model is marginal. Others have reported better results, but I have not seen it. This one is going back to the store.

 ”DO NOT BUY THIS” 2008-06-14
By ophelia99 (USA)
This is the shoddiest electronic item I ever bought. It worked much less well than my old non-amplified antenna. It was also so cheaply made that I had to handle it with ridiculous care to avoid breaking it with my soft, small hands.
